Well im benched for quiet sometime now, I thought of trying my hand at blogging a while back but just restrained to reading blogs ..

I went on a trek with a bunch of friends and I thought why not pen down the experience.. I thought I found a topic for my first blog.

Well we never had any plans of trekking or even going out for that matter.

One of my friend was going to his native Ankola which is about 60km prior to Karwar .. It was a out of the blue plan and 5 of just thought why not go to his native. We packed our bags on 8th nov , satuday and took the earliest train to Hubli .We took the train at 6 am and reached Hubli at 1:30pm ,

These were a few shots taken on the fly. There were beautiful Sunflower fields on the way from Tumkur onwards…

After our lunch, we took an auto to a nearby city bus station. The auto was moving at a rate that a 2 year old could run. After a slow and boring journey to the bus station we learnt that we had missed the bus by just 10mins and the next bus was scheduled only after 30 mins , Finally we boarded a bus to Ankola from Hubli . Ankola is about 5 hours away from Hubli , The bus we were traveling in was packed , but after an hour or so the bus was almost empty. We played cards and had a gala of time .

when we reached Ankola it was quiet late , we took another local bus to a small town that was about 20 mins away from Ankola city and that’s were my friends folks stayed . It was dark and deserted.. We reached his home around 10pm, got fresh and went out for a walk, that when I realized what a luck guy he is . Just meters away from his backyard was the river Gangavali, an island was formed too.

Next day morning at 8am after our break fast this was the site waiting for us.. It was serene.. :

After a bit of debating on the plan of action (actually we dint have a plan).. We decided to trek to Yana. Yana was about 60km from here, so we went by my friends car to a village Masthihalla ,

Yana is 15 km away from this Masthihalla . it was a great experience for a first time trekker like me. We enjoyed the trek , nevertheless it was too exhausting .

The trekking path :

This spot was extraordinarily beautiful , the bright pink flowers had fallen off the tree and made a Pink carpet sort path on our way..

By now we were really tired, we were just 5km away from Yana.. Well my two friends tried to do a Jab we met but errrr…

This is Yana :

There is a temple just below the huge rock formations. The guy in the temple gave us a jist about the formation of this huge rock. After which we were asked to go bare foot into a cake formed inside the rock :

Our car was waiting for us at Yana . After all the sight seeing. We were returning to Ankola to board a bus back to Bangalore. That’s when we saw a cheetah. It was crossing the road so leisurely. it was just 20 feet away from us . We were so elated to see a cheetah. In the jungles of Yana there are apparently all animals except for lion and elephants (That’s the information we got from the locals there)… Unfortunately we couldn’t capture the cheetah on camera.
